General Conference 2012 Held Successfully
The 34th MCTA Annual Conference was held on 27th November, 2012 at Synod Conference Hall. The programme was inaugurated by Pu Lalsawta, Hon'ble Minister, Higher and Technical Education, and was attended by about 300 members of the MCTA. In the First Session Condolence programme for three deceased members (Dr T.Lalsangliana, Dr Helen Hmar and Pu V.Lalbiakengliana) was held by observing one minute silence. Felicitation of former MCTA Office Bearers was conducted by the General Secretary, Dr P.L. Ramliana and citations were given to these former leaders. A Keynote Address for the seminar was delivered by the Chief Guest and two papers 'Problems & Opportunities in Higher Education and Higher Education Vision' by Prof.R.Lalthantluanga, Vice Chancellor, MZU; and 'Professional Code of Ethics for Teachers' by Professor Margaret Ch.Zama, Director, IQAC MZU, were presented. The presentations were followed by lively discussions.
The second business session was chaired by the President Pu Thanglura and Reports were given by the General Secretary and the Treasurer. The Treasurer also informed the meeting that a new Saving Bank Account (Ac No.32666037946) was opened at the SBI, Dawrpui Branch, Aizawl.Several agenda were discussed and deliberated and the following resolutions were passed.
1. The Govt of Mizoram be pressurized to appoint regular principals and professors as per UGC rules and let the MCTA Hqrs pursue the matter.
2.The courses and system of semester education in other Universities be studied and the matter be addressed to appropriate authorities.
3. The government be presurrised to fill up all vacant posts of Asst. Professor in all Colleges in the state.
4. The Govt of Mizoram be requested to allot more funds for Colleges from fees collected by the Colleges.
5.Steps be taken by the MCTA Headaquarters to improve the quality of higher education and teachers’ accountability as per UGC norms.
